Abstract

En este estudio indagamos si la medición de necesidades permite predecir de manera fiable manifestaciones psicopatológicas. Dos muestras de 150 postulantes a una universidad chilena, balanceadas según genero, edad, y estudios superiores previos, respondieron a una versión ipsativa o normativa del lnventario de Preferencias; Personales (IPP-1 o IPP-N; Bozzo, Castillo, Greppi. & Oneno·, 1969; Vinet, Fuentes. Melo. Muñoz, & Saiz, 1998), como medida de necesidades, y a la vcrsi6n chilena del Minnesota Multiphasic Personality lnventory (MMPI; Rissetti, Montiel, Mahes, Hermosilla, & Fleischli, 1978), como medida de psicopatología. Análisis correlaciónales bi y multivariados entre las; dos versiones del IPP y el MMPI revelaron que las necesidades tienden a ser independientes de la psicopatología, lo cual nos lleva a cuestionar el uso clínico de la medición de necesidades.
