Abstract

O presente artigo trata da tradução para a língua portuguesa, adaptação e análise fatorial do Maternal Attachment Inventory (MAI), o qual avalia a vinculação de mães para com seus filhos. Participaram 143 mães de filhos com idades entre seis e treze anos. A análise fatorial exploratória apontou a presença de dois fatores semanticamente congruentes e complementares entre si, com 39,829% de variância. A análise de consistência interna apresentou alto nível de fidedignidade, com Alpha de Cronbrach de 0,907. O IPVM apresenta-se, portanto, como um instrumento consistente para avaliar a vinculação materna de mães com filhos de seis a treze anos de idade. Salienta-se, entretanto, a necessidade de novas investigações que possibilitem validar o instrumento para a realidade brasileira, a qual é multifacetada.
