Abstract

Estudo descritivo e correlacional com os objetivos de identificar e descrever os comportamentos da conversa de idosos institucionalizados, verificar sua adequação para o estabelecimento de relações interpessoais e correlação com o tamanho da rede social. Participaram 30 idosos institucionalizados (M: 74 anos). Foram realizados entrevista, diagrama de escolta e o teste de interação real planejada. Os comportamentos identificados foram definidos e apresentados a seis juízes para avaliar a fidedignidade das observações e as habilidades comunicativas dos idosos. Os índices de concordância foram superiores a 83% e as habilidades comunicativas avaliadas como boas. Os idosos possuíam, em média, 6,2 pessoas na rede. As tendências dos coeficientes de correlação indicaram que boas habilidades comunicativas estavam relacionadas com uma maior quantidade de pessoas na rede social.
