Abstract

Este estudo analisa o stress ocupacional em 318 profissionais de saúde, divididos pela classe profissional dos médicos (35.8%) e dos enfermeiros (64.2), a trabalharem em instituições hospitalares e centros de saúde da região norte de Portugal. Foram avaliadas as fontes de stress, o burnout, o comprometimento organizacional e a satisfação e realização pessoal e profissional. Os resultados apontaram avaliações gerais de stress mais elevadas nos médicos do que nos enfermeiros, valores de burnout semelhantes em ambas as classes e maior insatisfação pessoal e profissional nos enfermeiros. As análises comparativas indicaram diferenças nas duas classes profissionais nas medidas usadas e a importância das variáveis sexo, estado civil, vínculo profissional e regime de trabalho na percepção de stress ocupacional. As análises de regressão indicaram o papel do stress e do burnout na explicação do comprometimento organizacional e da satisfação/realização pessoal e profissional. No final, são apresentadas algumas indicações para a investigação futura.
